Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Examine the tray from the inside. Pay attention to the edges. Often when you push the tray onto your teeth too hard, the edge could crumble in and you will be able to see it bent inside. Use some pliers to straighten it. Try to insert the tray again and start with that side first.
If no bending present and the tray still doesn't go in, put it under hot water for 5 min and try to insert after. If you had some dental work done (fillings or crown), the new restoration may prevent the tray from sitting. Always give your previous tray to your dental provider to make the restoration and aligner match. If that doesn't help, put the previous tray and make an appointment in our office.
It is most likely your new tray. Use aligner-seaters (vibrational device) or aligner-chewies. Apply pressure only on the front. Do it for at least 5 minutes for the first 3 days.
If mild lifting is present, it is usually not a concern, and the tray should settle after some time. In case it affects the way the tray fits, make an appointment to evaluate.
If you had dental work done (fillings, root canal or crowns) it may prevent the aligner from proper fitting. Always give a dental provider your previous tray so they will make your new restoration fit within the aligner.
